About
Nordic and Spruce began as a college assignment while I was working on my undergrad degree in psychology in 2017. It had been my goal to work in the mental health space, and at the time a degree seemed like the best path forward. Skip to 2020 and i’m working on a business plan for a class assignment and because I had always been a construction contractor as my a job, had built my own house, and was very interested in design and specifically alternatives to traditional construction methods. I chose to draft a business plan for a start-up modular housing company.
Around this time a friend was building a tiny home for his Mom, he and I spent quite a bit of time brainstorming design ideas back and forth and one thing led to the next, we decided to start a tiny home company together in the garage beside my house. Eventually, this friend moved on to other pursuits, and we purchased his part of the company and rest is history.
Well, Not quite.
That was 2020. Things we’re crazy, y’all remember. So I was faced with a question. I have this business and what I felt was a calling by God to serve in the mental wellness space. I’m asking myself, “how do I bring these worlds together?” Well, here I am 4 years, 70+ tiny homes later, and I’m as dedicated as ever to this question. Following are two real ways that we’ve been able to carry out this vision as a company.
First. We have been privileged to partner with individuals and small companies all across America who share our passion for wellness. Most of our tiny homes are serving as off grid retreats, in the most magical locations that offer rest to weary minds and bodies. That matters to us. Without these visionaries who believed in Nordic and Spruce, and in a small way partner with us, we could never gotten to where we are now.
Second. In 2023 we purchased 15 acres on a ridge top in rural Monterey TN, where we are slowly building our own wellness retreat. We will host events and programs all with one goal; to lead and foster healing encounters with God, ourselves, and each other. While this project doesn’t directly relate to Nordic and Spruce homes, it is a tangible manifestation of the deeper passion behind our product. And why so many have connected with the design and architecture of Nordic + Spruce. We believe there must be a greater “why',” behind what you do…and this is ours.
Our tagline is, “spaces to rest,” so wether you live in one of our homes long term, short term, or you invite and host others. We are so proud to be a small part of this gift to yourself, or others. The gift of rest.
